PROMAR - Brief history

Foundation PROMAR - Projeto Marcenaria da Música (Music Woodwork Project) was created in 2004, in Jardinópolis, São Paulo State, with the statute aim of caring for children, adolescents and families involved in violence related matters.
In the beginning it was only ideals and dreams, but the Foundation was able to gather support, enthusiasm and concrete actions.
Throughout this period, the foundation moved towards two main goals: the establishment of ties with the community and the offer of development and social inclusion opportunities through art and education workshops.

Bonds were also strengthen with the youth movement of Rotaract - Jardinópolis, and new partnerships were established, allowing for other important works such as Projeto Catadores, involving recyclable waste collectors.

The participation in projects such as Intervenções Breves (with families) and Flores Breves (with children and adolescents), under the coordination of the Judiciary Social Assistants Prof. Eliana Mendes Teixeira Roque and Maria Luiza Machado, taught quite a lot to everyone in Foundation PROMAR.

Nowadays, the Foundation plays a key role in the public policies of the city, being well regarded by technicians and the community, specially by the inhabitants of Vila Reis, in Jardinópolis.
In events such as the Independence parade and many others, the appearance of Promar is eagerly awaited.
From timid first steps, the Foundation now walks steadfastly and intends to take a few more steps in order to bring to the community more tools and opportunities for development and more quality of life.

Currently, more investments are required for the constant improvement of the educational processes and the strengthening of the Foundation’s social integration, as well as the offer of new perspectives, such as the expansion of the Digital Propagation Network and works in Environmental Education, for improvement of the quality of life.

Scope of action

Foundation Promar acts for the protection of children and adolescents victimized and or in risk situation and social vulnerability. For that, it develops art and education workshops for children and adolescents referred by the Juvenile Court of Jardinópolis, and it also develops social and educational programs for  these children’s and adolescents’ families.  It also provides assistance for the community, to fulfill its objectives.

Assistance Capacity

With the opening of the new headquarters and the gymnasium, the Foundation expanded its assistance capacity to 80 children and adolescents, divided in groups. By the end of 2009, however, 90 children and adolescents were enrolled.
